Happy 2026! We wish you all a serene and happy year ahead.
As we look back on 2025, we began planting our roots in the Luberon, in Cucuron, seeking serenity there while navigating a complex professional world.
In 2025, our house in Provence became more than just a home; it became our sanctuary. We found ourselves escaping there whenever possible, trading the grind of work for the quiet rhythms of Provence. We’ve begun to get to know the local landscape - taking full advantage of the world-class hiking and cycling the region offers, slowly settling into its pace, and meeting some wonderful neighbours along the way. Laurent has also been deeply immersed in shaping our garden, experimenting with how English garden ideas meet the Provençal climate, sometimes learning the hard way through early very hot summers.
One of the greatest joys of 2025 was welcoming some of you to the house already. Seeing the rooms filled with dear friends and family made the dream of this home feel complete. It is a place for a shared glass of rosé, a walk through the countryside, rest by the pool, or, in winter, time spent by the fireplace. The invitation is always open.
While our personal lives found more calm, the professional landscape was undeniably challenging. For Laurent, the year was shaped by a difficult economic context at Eurostar, marked by cost-cutting, redundancies, growing competition, and ongoing operational hurdles. For me, 2025 was a painful journey through repeated restructuring and significant staff reductions. At the end of that journey, I found myself without a role. It has been difficult, but I am closing that chapter with optimism and curiosity for what comes next.
We continued to enjoy theatre, exhibitions, and cinema. Our events page keeps track of what we watched. We were particularly moved by The Lady by the Sea and Inter Alia at the Bridge and the National Theatre. I was also lucky to see David Hockney’s exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton several times - a magnificent exhibition, rich in colour, humour, and a deep dialogue with nature.
In Aix-en-Provence, we visited Cézanne au Jas de Bouffan at the Musée Granet at its opening, an illuminating exhibition rooted in place and personal history. We also greatly enjoyed the Lee Miller exhibition at Tate Britain, a powerful journey from surrealism to wartime photography.
Back in London, our home has been full and lively. Thomas and Alice are both back with us temporarily, which is really lovely (most days :)). Thomas is in the midst of his job hunt, exploring his interests and looking for the right next step, while Alice is doing a Medical Information role while preparing for her specialty exams. Having them home, and enjoying Thomas’s ever-evolving cooking, has brought a sense of family first to our daily life.
As we turn the page on 2025, we hope to find paths we love in 2026 - ourselves, and our children alike - whatever shape they may take. For me, 2026 feels like the beginning of a new chapter, one I am still shaping, with the desire to better align with my values, do things I love, and continue learning and innovating. I’m also excited to start a novel-writing course with Faber Academy next week, to finally pursue and finish Bus 17, a novel I began almost ten years ago while living in the US. We hope the year ahead brings you curiosity, moments shared with those you love, and a little more serenity in our world along the way.
We hope to cross paths with many of you in 2026 - perhaps in Provence, over a coffee in London, or somewhere entirely unexpected.

Bonne année 2026 !
Nous vous souhaitons une année sereine, pleine de découvertes et de petits et grands bonheurs.
En 2025, nous avons planté nos racines dans le Luberon, recherchant la sérénité tout en naviguant dans un monde professionnel compliqué.
Petit à petit, notre maison de Cucuron est devenue un lieu qui nous ressemble. Nous y retournons dès que nous pouvons, quittant Londres pour les collines et la lumière du sud, les champs d’oliviers et les vignes. Nous apprenons à connaître les chemins de grande randonnée du Luberon, à découvrir les alentours à pied ou à vélo, à adopter le rythme de la Provence.
Nous avons été tellement heureux d’accueillir certains d’entre vous dans notre maison - et l’invitation est toujours ouverte. C’est un lieu simple et accueillant, pour un verre de rosé au soleil, une sieste au bord de la piscine, ou, en hiver, une partie de cartes au coin du feu.
De l’autre côté de la Manche, notre vie professionnelle, elle, n’a pas été de tout repos. Pour Laurent, l’année fut marquée par un contexte tendu chez Eurostar, entre coupes budgétaires, licenciements et défis quotidiens. Pour moi, 2025 s’est achevée sur une réorganisation difficile, avec beaucoup de départs dans mon équipe, et au bout du chemin, mon poste a disparu. C’est un chapitre que je referme avec optimisme et un désir d’aller explorer autre chose.
Nous avons continué à profiter de la scène culturelle londonienne que nous adorons que nous adorons. The Lady by the Sea et Inter Alia nous ont profondément touchés, tout comme l’exposition de David Hockney à la Fondation Louis Vuitton. À Aix-en-Provence, nous avons vu Cézanne au Jas de Bouffan a l’ouverture du Musée Granet, et à Londres, la rétrospective Lee Miller à la Tate Britain.
À Londres, la maison s’est remplie. Thomas et Alice sont revenus pour un temps, ce qui est un vrai bonheur (la plupart du temps :) ….). Thomas est à la recherche d’un job, explorant ses envies et la prochaine étape. Alice travaille temporairement dans l’information médicale tout en préparant ses examens et son concours de spécialité médicale. Les plats de plus en plus inventifs de Thomas, et les grandes discussions familiales à quatre, ont ramené un esprit de famille au quotidien.
Nous espérons que chacun trouvera son chemin en 2026. Pour ma part, je commence un atelier d’écriture créative à la Faber Academy, tout en explorant mes prochaines aventures professionnelles.
Nous espérons avoir le plaisir de croiser beaucoup d’entre vous en 2026 — peut-être en Provence, autour d’un café à Londres, ou ailleurs, là où le chemin nous mènera ….
